Fire Retardent Vinyl Ester Resins

Our brominated MFE Vinyl Ester Resins meet all industry standards for high corrosion resistance and feature strong flame retardancy.

The resins provide resistance to a wide range of acids, alkalis, bleaches and organic compounds.

They are used extensively in FRP ductwork as well as stack liner applications and are suitable for equipment that handles mixtures of air and hot gases, building panels and flooring compounds where ignition inhibiting properties are essential.

Please read the Safety Data Sheet.

Resin Storage

Vinyl ester resins should be stored in a cool and dry place that is out of direct sunlight. The storage temperature should be maintained below 25°C and it should be kept away from all sources of heat which might create localised hot spots.

The shelf life of the product may be shortened when improper storage or transportation has occurred due to polymerization. Exposure to direct sunlight or other sources of high temperature can lead to dangerous exotherms with rapid polymerization.

Copper and alloy that contains copper should not come into contact with the resin.

All Vinyl Ester Resins should be stored separately from oxidizing materials, peroxides and metals.

Product expiry is 3 months from RF Composites' manufacturing date.

MFE-707A MFE-707H MFE-7V
Description MFE-707A is a brominated epoxy vinyl ester resin that offers a high degree of fire retardant properties, whilst providing excellent chemical resistance and toughness typical of MFE®resins. MFE- 707H is a Brominated Bisphenol-A vinyl ester resin which has the highest bromine content amongst our MFE Range. Laminates made with MFE 707H meet ASTM E84 flame spread index Class 1 without any additional additives. MFE-7V is a brominated vinyl ester that offers a high degree of fire retardancy. MFE-7V is designed as a infusion / RTM vinyl ester resin, whilst exhibiting excellent chemical resistance and toughness.

Performance Improved reactivity brominated epoxy vinyl ester resin. Laminates made with MFE-707Aresin meet ASTM E-84 Flame Spread “Class 1” rating (FSI = 20). It retains strength, heat and chemical resistant properties when exposed to hot gasses and flammable liquids. When using appropriate additives, this resin helps fabricators meet fire-retardant requirements. Resists mechanical and chemical damage to enable use in various caustic environments such as sodium hypochlorite, chlorine dioxide and alkaline hydrogen peroxide. MFE-707H offers a maximum degree of fire retardancy. Corrosion resistance is similar to MFE 711. Laminates made with MFe-707H resin without any additives meet ASTM E84 possessing better flame spread index Class 1. Such laminates made with MFE 707H fire retardance in flamespreadindex< 20(according ASTM E84) and higher limited oxygen index compared with the laminates made with MFE-707A. Chemical resistance is maintained and visual inspection of fabricated articles display excellent results. Excellent anti-corrosion performance and mechanical properties, with good air drying. Pure resin casting’s oxygen index>= 32, when adds 3-5% Sb2O3into MFE-7V, the L.O.I. will up to 40. Both casting and laminate with Sb2O3 meet ASTM E-84 Flame Spread rating "Class 1" (FSI<25).
